Product Review
I have a few pairs of sneakers, and these are my second paid of zero drop minimalist runners.
My first pair of minimalist sneakers are road shoes, so this is my first trail ready pair. And after running on the treadmill yesterday and through dirt, gravel, over rocky terrain and mud today, it's clear that these are pretty rock solid trail runners.
Like most minimalist shoes i've tested, these are incredibly soft, and while I don't get why minimalist road sneakers need to be soft and flexible, it's clear that pliability is pretty critical in a trail outsole. To get the best grip and to be able to adjust dynamically to the terrain around you, the soft outsole is critical in ensuring you can contour the terrain, and maximize grip.
With that in mind, the Vivobarefoot Breathos are extremely soft and pliable, but offer reasonable protection. I'd say the outsole is more pliable than many Vibram fivefinger sneakers.
